United Airlines announced that it will end its Los Angeles – Singapore nonstop and move the flight up to San Francisco, which will have two daily SFO – SIN nonstops.
Why? Well, according to United, it’s because customers are asking for it– “To better serve customers who asked for alternative departure and arrival times to and from SIN (Singapore), we plan to shift our LAX-SIN flight to a second SFO-SIN frequency starting October 27, 2018.”
But a more pressing issue for United is that its Star Alliance partner Singapore Airlines will add new LAX-SIN nonstops later this year or early next. The new United flight begins October 27 and will depart SFO at 10:55 a.m. (11:55 a.m. for the first week due to DST), arriving at SIN at 8:15 p.m. the next day. The return flight departs SIN at 10:20 p.m., arriving in SFO at 8:55 p.m. the same day (9:55 p.m. for the first week due to DST).
What’s best about the new flight is that late evening arrival in SIN– after a 17-hour schlep across the Pacific, passengers can spend the night recovering and be fresh for work the next day.
